Down the TBR Hole was created by Lost in a Story. Its purpose is to help narrow down your TBR list on Goodreads by selecting 5 titles each week and deciding if you want to keep it on your TBR or get rid of it! I was inspired by Melanie @ Meltotheany to start this blog series as my TBR pile is OUT OF CONTROL!
How it works:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This Week’s 5 Books:
Can you tell I went through a dystopian phase?
1) THE 5TH WAVE BY RICK YANCEY
I am so over YA dystopians so I have no hesitation getting rid of this one. I already have it in my donation pile.
Verdict: DELETE
2) CARNAGE BY LESLEY JONES
I didn’t even know what this book was about but somehow it ended up on my TBR? It’s a new adult romance which isn’t my absolute favorite genre. However I have other new adult books higher on my TBR that I’d prefer to read than this!
Verdict: DELETE
3) BRINGING HOME THE BIRKIN BY MICHAEL TONELLO
I went through a huge memoir phase so I added this to my TBR back in the day. I think I’ll pass on this one, though. But it does sound cute!
Verdict: DELETE
4) DELIRIUM BY LAUREN OLIVER
I have always been underwhelmed by Lauren Oliver’s books. I HATED Before I Fall. Like, I really, really hated the main character so much. And I’ve heard a lot of negative things about this series. Pass.
Verdict: DELETE
5) READY PLAYER ONE BY ERNEST CLINE
Again, my heart just isn’t into dystopians anymore. I know this is a cult favorite which is why I’ve kept it on my TBR. But I really don’t see myself wanting to pick it up in the next year.
Verdict: DELETE
Thanks for taking a look at my TBR! I’m going to try my best to make this a weekly thing! And please feel free to recommend what books I should add (or remove) from my TBR! You can go here to view my to-read shelf, or here to add me as a friend on Goodreads! 🙂
xx,
Amy
I should really do this! I just have too many books on my TBR and I’m DROWNING. I guess I can’t be as decisive as you though XD

This is such a good idea! I also strongly disliked Before I Fall, but I did really like Panic By Lauren Oliver. But life is too short for a tbr full of books you don’t want to read!

Sigh. Lauren Oliver is one author whose books I always pick up and they end up being blah. 😞

I did enjoy Ready Player One a lot. Admittedly dystopia is one of my favourite genres. It’s one of those rare books where the movie version was also quite good – even though a bit different.

Thank you for this! I go through phases where I pick up dystopians so if I’m in the mood I may try reading it again ☺️❤️
